The
City of Glendale will be celebrating
its Century of growth. Billy’s
Glendale has been a part of that
history for over a half century.
Billy’s Delicatessen has been a
Glendale landmark since 1948. The
signature storefront is still a
local attraction. The “Wall” is made
of ceramic, hand sculpted blocks of
cheese, bread loaves, sticks of
salami and wine casks.
To insure freshness, the full
service delicatessen baked it’s own
breads. The bakery expanded into
pastries, pies, cookies (do we even
have to mention the Brownies?) and
cakes. The “deli slash bakery” added
a full sit-down restaurant. That
wasn’t enough. So catering became a
big part of Billy’s. Now the company
is really full service:
Delicatessen, Restaurant, Bakery,
and Catering.
Just like Billy’s great food, it is
what is on the inside that counts.
The walls of the Glendale location
reveal some of Glendale’s history
with very large pictures adorning
Billy’s walls. There is Bob Hope
getting ready for a USO Show. An
aerial view of the town of Glendale.
Pictures that showcase a lifestyle
of the time.
Although ownership has changed over
the seven decades of business, there
is still one constant… Offer
your community good food and service
at a fair market price and Billy’s
will be successful.
